Safety & Compliance Coordinator – Chilliwack

Triton Transport is a progressive heavy haul transportation company providing services throughout North America with operations in British Columbia and Alberta. Triton Truck and Trailer Repair performs maintenance for this fleet as well as an expanding outside client base.

Working closely with our Safety, Compliance and HR Manager, this position supports the entire Triton team and ensures compliance is in keeping with governmental regulations, policies and Triton’s high safety standards. This position will give you the opportunity to provide leadership and administrative support to promote and manage the safety program. You will work alongside staff to monitor and track our safety activities to confirm whether the systems in place are working, and to ensure the safety program is successful.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Updating and distribution of HSE policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with governmental regulations, company policies, and recognized best practices for COR by electronically filing HSE data and information. (ie: Log incidents and investigations to identify trends; manage inspection, Hazard ID and FLRA data; create action plans and follow up to closure.)
  • Assist with Worksafe BC claims and reporting.
  • Obtain driver abstracts bi-annually, retrieve and graph BC and US DOT carrier profiles monthly.
  • Track KPI’s and graph leading and lagging indicators for analysis.
  • Input safety statistics in all required internet registry sites (ISNetworld, Avetta etc…).
  • Maintain contractor management program by keeping database updated and current in insurance, WCB, safety, and security (C-TPAT & PIP).
  • Updating safety bulletins throughout the offices, leading JHSC safety meetings, and sending safety emails on a regular basis.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1 to 3 years of HSE administrative background is desired.
  • Previous electronic filing experience and proficiency in MS Office is required.
  • Communication is vital in this job function. It must be clear, precise, and professional with an understanding of confidentiality and sensitivity being of primary importance.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with excellent organization, observation, and documentation skills.
  • Good working knowledge of COR Safety protocols, NSC and FMCSA compliance regulations, federal, provincial and municipal regulations/legislation, the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations and applicable Human Rights.
  • Practical knowledge of WorkSafeBC/WCB processes and procedures, including claims management and related legislation.
  • Understanding and knowledge of US & Canadian transport regulations (e.g. Hours of Service, load securement).
  • Experience or an understanding of working within a unionized environment and application of the Canada Labour Code is considered an asset.
  • Committed team player and the ability to work independently.
  • Working towards a CRSP or CRST designation is considered an asset.

CT/HD Mechanic, Chilliwack, BC

Supervised by the Shop Foreman, your responsibilities will include: performing routine maintenance on the fleet, electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting and diagnostics, engine and transmission repairs, performing incidental welding operations and other mechanical repair work as required. In addition, you will share the responsibility of running the mobile service truck for service and repairs to Triton equipment, therefore experience in this area is beneficial.

To be successful in this role, you will have a Red Seal Journeyman CT/HD Mechanic certification and proven mechanical abilities in hydraulics and electrical, including schematics and diagnostics. Knowledge of NSC and FMCSA regulations and compliance are required. A class 5 driver’s licence is required, but a class 1 or 3 driver’s licence and Commercial Vehicle Inspector License are preferred.

Company Driver – Heavy Haul Division, Chilliwack, BC

We are seeking a skilled and knowledgeable Company Driver who has experience with 7 – 13 Axle trailing configurations. We offer a competitive union wage and a comprehensive benefit package and we recognize the need to balance work and home time.

Working out of our Chilliwack facility, the Company Driver will carry a variety of loads for construction, oil and gas, mining, forestry and manufacturing industries throughout the Pacific Northwest US, AB, BC and SK. The successful candidate must meet the following essential qualifications and requirements:

  • A Class 1 Driver’s License plus a minimum of three (3) years of related driving experience, preferably in the Heavy Haul Industry
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the National Safety Code and HOS regulations
  • Knowledge of the types of trucks & trailers that are operated in a heavy haul environment
  • A mechanical aptitude and knowledge of truck & trailer components
  • Knowledge of NSC and FMCSA regulations and WorkSafe compliance
  • Ability to handle a heavy workload and work effectively with interruptions and changing priorities
  • Ability to use sound judgment and make independent decisions
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Able to cross the border on a regular basis. A Fast Card is preferred.
